Flowers & Fruits
| I have been in love with native wildflowers since my college days, when I studied biology and natural sciences and became a lifelong member of the California Native Plant Society. I photograph wildflowers wherever I go. However, when I was recovering from major surgery and needed easier walks I also began to seriously photograph cultivated flowers, grown in local gardens such as Elizabeth Gamble Gardens in Palo Alto, Filoli Garden in Woodside, and Strybing Arboretum in San Francisco. I love these flowers just as well, but I do still feel the need to somehow separate the cultivated flowers from the native flowers - thus there are two categories to visit here: cultivated flowers or native flowers. It's a somewhat arbitrary separation on my part, as some of these gardens do cultivate natives as well, and some may be natives to a somewhat different range than where I've photographed them, so be forewarned: the categories are not exact. |
